Exodus 22:22-23
KJV—Ye shall not afflict any widow, or
fatherless child. If thou afflict them in any
wise, and they cry at all unto me, I will
surely hear their cry.

NKJV—You shall not afflict any widow or
fatherless child. If you afflict them in any
way, and they cry at all to Me, I will surely
hear their cry.

NIV—Do not take advantage of a widow
or an orphan. If you do and they cry out to
me, I will certainly hear their cry.

Deuteronomy 14:29
KJV—The fatherless, and the widow,
which are within thy gates, shall come,
and shall eat and be satisfied.

NKJV—The fatherless and the widow
who are within your gates, may come and
eat and be satisfied.

NIV—The fatherless and the widows who
live in your towns may come and eat and
be satisfied.

Psalm 68:5
KJV—A father of the fatherless, and a
judge of the widows, is God in his holy

Amp—A father of the fatherless, and a
judge and protector of the widows, is God
in His holy habitation.

Psalm 68:6
NIV—God sets the lonely in families.

Amp—God places the solitary in families and
gives the desolate a home in which to dwell.

NAS—God makes a home for the lonely.

Psalm 146:9
KJV—The Lord preserveth the strangers;
he relieveth the fatherless and widow.

NKJV—The Lord watches over the strangers;
He relieves the fatherless and widow.

NIV—The Lord watches over the alien
and sustains the fatherless and the widow.

Proverbs 15:25
KJV—The Lord will destroy the house of
the proud: but he will establish the border
of the widow.

NKJV—The Lord will destroy the house
of the proud, but He will establish the
boundary of the widow.

NIV—The Lord tears down the proud
man’s house but he keeps the widow’s
boundaries intact.

Isaiah 54:5
KJV—For thy Maker is thine husband;
the Lord of hosts is his name; and thy
Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God
of the whole earth shall he be called.

NKJV—For your Maker is your husband,
the Lord of hosts is His name; and your
Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel; He is
called the God of the whole earth.

NIV—For your Maker is your husband—
the Lord Almighty is his name—the Holy
One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is
called the God of all the earth.
